Part of the “New Year” thing. Kinda, anyway. This is partly in solidarity with @thebibliofeels, but it’s something I need to do, as well.
It’s so easy to tell oneself that, “oh, I didn’t have the time today to write,” when the simple truth is, “There was a movie I wanted to watch, and then I had lunch with my friends, and then I was watching Youtube videos, and lost track of time…” When you start a writing log, and you look back at what actually got in your way, you start realizing that, well…the only thing that was in your way, was you.
I’m no different, but that’s something I’m working on, and this is step one of that: pinpointing the problem. What are the greatest distractions, and how can I cut back on them.
Feel free to chime in when/if you notice something you’re guilty of as well. We can all learn from each other.
Week in review
She just bought me a laptop. How did I repay her? By singing “The song That Never Ends” until she finally found the button to hang up on me.
Hey, in my defense, the woman tried to kill me last night! See, her doctors told her not to eat red meat anymore. She didn’t realize that BEEF was red meat until yesterday, apparently. So we’re talking about what she eats. She likes hamburgers, which okay, she knew THAT was beef, so it counts as red meat. Then she said she likes Arby’s roast beef.
Me: “That’s red meat too.”
her: “It is?”
me: “Yes…it’s- “
her: “but it’s not beef, it’s roast be-….oh.”
I was choking on AIR. I was still coughing at six am this morning. So yeah. It was justified, even with the laptop!
Sorry for the delay everyone. Here is part 1 of Chapter 2.
His nostrils flared. “It means you have measured me by your crooked stick and have found me wanting. Tell me, Mother, do you know what this—” He showed me his middle finger. “means?”
I know it’s getting late in the day, but I promise, Chapter 2 of When Love Dies is on its way! Just smoothing out some bumps. Also, there will be a (very small) bonus piece tomorrow. A blooper, as it were 😉
Also, in the coming weeks, updates should be more regular. The main reason it’s taking so long for this part is because I had to rewrite two entire strands for the math class I’m in, plus an assignment for the creative writing class, and an emergency eye doctor visit. Fun times. So much fun.
Okay, so one of my jobs is as a cashier/clerk at a gas station down the road from where I live. The other job is being a nanny to a ten year old and a seven year old. Last week, the ten year old went on a field trip with her school, and got a t-shirt with the name of the trip and everything on it. Saturday, another kid came into the gas station wearing the same t-shirt. Turns out the girl knows the munchkin I take care of.
Me: One of your classmates came into my store the other day. I don’t know her name, but she was wearing that Campfire shirt, and she says she knows you.
Her: Was it Taylor?
Me: I don’t know, she didn’t tell me her name.
Her: Did she have blonde hair?
Her: Was it Maddie?
Me: I don’t know her name.
Her: Was it a girl?
Me: Yes, but I don’t know her name.
Her: Was it ____?
I love this girl, but seriously….
I had to crack down and finish my Psych paper, so I didn’t get to share anything this week. I’ll try to make up for it on Monday, but no promises. In the meantime, by request, I will try to write another installment in the Tarot series within the next week (again, no promises).
Next installment will be based on: Seven of Swords (reversed)
Only about a week late, but the page-a-day pledge is over, and I didn’t get as much done as I had hoped. To be fair though, most of the work was editing anyway, and it’s kinda hard to measure that progress.
On Tuesday, I took the day off homework and did some writing in between birthday phone calls/messages. I’m regretting that now, since I’m having to rush up and finish my paper of Psych before tomorrow night, but oh well. Hindsight 20/20 and all that. I did get some ideas sorted out for Etlan, at least.
The 31st was taken up with having to get grocery shopping out of the way, and other errands. I wrote about 500+ words, but it was all homework.
All in all, I think I failed the pledge, but at least I can say I tried. I think I might try doing a pledge every other week instead of a month long deal. It might be easier to manage around homework and work. We’ll see. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out what to share for Sharing Saturday…
Nothing really to say here. Most of my writing was notes, or helping a friend with their story, so I have nothing really to share. Today looks like it’s going to be another note day, so I make no promises on today either. Believe me, I’m trying. 😦
Had to work on my coursework instead of actual writing, but if writing notes count, then I’m good. Three pages of handwritten notes before I realized/remembered “Oh, hey…I can print this out!“. So now I have 6 pages of notes that I will most likely copy by hand (just to make sure the info sticks), and I have two days to finish up a weeks worth of classwork in both classes. Wish me luck guys, I think I’m a lil screwed, and I don’t mean in a good way.
Sorry guys. Had a long day yesterday and kinda passed out early, and stayed passed out for most of the day. No work was done yesterday, but I am trying to make up for it today. Fingers crossed, I’ll get chapter eleven finished, and get to work on twelve.
