Last week was centered around Military Awareness, so this week’s song focuses on Child Abuse Awareness. “Independence Day” tells the story of a mother who has had enough, and takes drastic measures to make sure her abuser never lays his hands on her or her daughter again. I cried the first time I saw the video. It’s still heavy, 20+ years later.
