Weekly Log #5

Part of the “New Year” thing. Kinda, anyway. This is partly in solidarity with @thebibliofeels, but it’s something I need to do, as well.

It’s so easy to tell oneself that, “oh, I didn’t have the time today to write,” when the simple truth is, “There was a movie I wanted to watch, and then I had lunch with my friends, and then I was watching Youtube videos, and lost track of time…” When you start a writing log, and you look back at what actually got in your way, you start realizing that, well…the only thing that was in your way, was you.

I’m no different, but that’s something I’m working on, and this is step one of that: pinpointing the problem. What are the greatest distractions, and how can I cut back on them.

Feel free to chime in when/if you notice something you’re guilty of as well. We can all learn from each other.

Wednesday / 5

So, who has two thumbs and didn’t sleep a wink last night? This girl, right here. On the plus side, I’m feeling murderous, so it shouldn’t be too hard to kill my darlings…

Thursday / 6

Today was Picard day, but I still fit in some editing. I’m adding more than I’m taking out though…this (might?) be a problem…

Friday / 7

One of my beta-readers (and future roommate) is feeding my inner book fiend! I have new books on the way~ Also, I might be done editing. I’ve had it looked at by a couple pairs of fresh eyes, and almost all of them have signed off on it. The last one is finishing up any day now, and as soon as he’s done, it’ll be ready for querying.

Saturday & Sunday / 8 & 9

I took the weekend for myself. Played “The Sims” a bit, listened to music a lot.

Monday / 10

I intended on spending today just getting everything together to query an agent, but I ended up just making the jump. The query is in, now the waiting begins.

Tuesday / 11

Oof, I refuse to count this day. I struggled all day just to think of something to write on Instagram, much less a work of fiction.

End of week review:

Well, I met my deadline, but that’s pretty much the only thing I got done this week. Next week is going to be more of the same, with my new classes opening on Sunday, and the kids being off school Monday and Tuesday. Today though, today is getting everything ready for the other agent, and making sure I have the next chapter of “Don’t Feed the Trolls” scheduled like I meant to…
